Zif Socket
This
40 pin wide zif socket works well with our USB series of Pic
Programmers,
CK1708,
CK1710,
and CK1711. We highly recommend
purchasing this socket with the programmers if you plan to frequently
program and debug a PIC.
What
is a Zif Socket?
ZIF
is short for Zero Insertion Force, which means you can drop a PIC
(programmable integrated circuit) into the socket with no force.
Then you can push down the small arm lever and it clamps the PIC in
place while making electrical contact with the programmer. This is
very useful if you are programming several IC's and/or experimenting
with different programs and need to frequently reprogram the PIC.
All of our programmers come with standard IC
sockets. These still allow the changing of PIC's, but require a
little bit more effort to place the PIC's into the programmer.
Because these sockets add significant cost to the kits we let you decide
if you want one or not.
