Due to the reasons outlined below, effective December 1st, 2004, Carl's Electronics is no longer shipping to any foreign destination except Canada.  We may make exceptions, on a case-by-case basis, for large orders from established foreign entities.  Please contact us at sales@ElectronicKits.com if you are a foreign company or institution wishing to make a large order.

Reasons we are limiting foreign orders:

1. There is not an efficient and cost effective method to ship Internationally.  It takes 3 to 4 times longer to prepare a package for shipment to a foreign destination due to the customs forms and shipping calculations.  Carriers like UPS, FedEx, and DHL cost anywhere from $70 to $150 to ship, Carriers like United States Postal Service cot $15 to $30, but lose over half the packages, with no recourse for reimbursement..

2. There is not a secure and efficient means of collecting payment.  Foreign credit cards are plagued with fraud, bank transfers are cumbersome and have high fees.  Western Union is cumbersome and not efficient, and has high fees.

3. Lastly, it is not cost effective to handle customer returns due to damage, defective, or unsatisfactory merchandise.  In many cases the shipping is costing more than the merchandise is worth.
