FAQ & Terms of Sale
For all orders including internet, fax, and mail orders, the pricing in our shopping cart is the pricing you will be charged. Please do not order if you do not agree with the pricing reflected in our internet shopping cart.
Shipping Rates and Info
We will make every attempt to ship all orders within 1 business day of order receipt. This excludes Weekends and Holidays. Regular ground service is handled via US Mail or UPS (our choice unless you call us at 510-451-4320 to specify UPS or USPS), Express (Expedited) shipping is handled via UPS – all express orders must be submitted by 11:00am PST for same-day shipping. All Shipping and Handling fees are non-refundable. Expedited orders do not include Saturday, Sunday or Holiday delivery. Next day and 2nd Day expedited orders will be delivered by UPS in their normal afternoon delivery. Guaranteed Deliveries: If a shipment does not make the guaranteed delivery window per UPS policies, we will refund the DIFFERENCE between the expedited shipping cost and our UPS Ground charges.
All regular UPS AND USPS shipping delivery time estimates are just that, estimates (not guarantees) of typical shipping delivery times to your area. Unless otherwise noted, we observe all UPS and USPS shipping holidays. We do not ship using 3rd party account numbers.
CANADIAN ORDERS – are shipped via USPS and UPS. You are wholly responsible for any custom duties, brokerage fees, import restrictions, etc. that are imposed after the sale. If you are not aware of UPS brokerage and duty fees, they can be quite high – Carl’s Electronics has no participation in these fees and we are unable to calculate what they might be. Any CANADIAN or foreign orders that are refused because of UPS brokerage fees will be refunded less 25% restocking, shipping charges, and UPS return charges – NO EXCEPTIONS.
BACKORDERS – all partial shipment backorders will be shipped via regular ground service at our expense. If you want backordered items expedited you must call us in advance to arrange for expedited shipping.

FORMS OF PAYMENT – We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, PayPal, Checks and Money Orders (for quickest processing we prefer US Postal Money Orders over personal and company checks). Credit card orders are accepted via our secure online shopping cart, fax and mail only. For your security we require the billing address that matches the billing address on the credit card statement. We also require the CVV code from the back of your card (front of card for American Express). We verify this information thoroughly with the issuing credit card company. Please contact us at 866-664-0627 or 510-451-4320 for details. All discounts must be applied at the time of order. No discounts will be processed after an order has been submitted.
CHARGEBACKS/DISPUTES – Please contact us prior to making any chargeback or dispute to your credit card company or PayPal. Issues can usually be resolved by speaking to a representative.
PURCHASE ORDERS – Carl’s Electronics accepts Purchase Orders from recognized educational institutions and established corporate entities. Shipping addresses must be a verifiable corporate or school shipping address. We will NOT ship to home addresses when purchase orders are used. Purchase Orders must be generated on formal letterhead and can be emailed as a pdf attachment, mailed or faxed. We do not accept verbal POs.
LATE PAYMENTS- Late payments of invoices will incur a $25 late fee or 10% of order amount (whichever is greater). We offer up to 30 day terms. Invoices not paid within 60 days will incur a further penalty of 18% interest. Any invoice not paid within 90 days will be sent to a collection agency. In addition to the preceding penalties, customer is responsible for all charges associated with the collection of the unpaid invoice.
We guarantee all products to be free of defects in workmanship and material for 90 days after the date of sale to customer. We will replace or repair, at our option providing there is no evidence of customer misuse, or alteration. This does not apply to any product requiring assembly by the customer. The above is our MINIMUM warranty, in many cases our suppliers may have longer warranty periods and these will gladly be honored.
KITS & PRODUCTS REQUIRING ASSEMBLY: All kit sales are final! Due to the fact that components of the kit may be damaged or lost during assembly/opening, we do not accept returns for refund or repair of any electronic kits. We will replace any missing or incorrect components free-of-charge. You must notify us of missing or incorrect components within 10 days of item receipt. This policy applies to ANY product we sell that requires assembly by the customer.
ALREADY ASSEMBLED CIRCUITS & PRODUCTS – All assembled products have a minimum 90 day warranty. These items are strictly non-refundable. We will repair or replace any defective product within 90 days. in many cases our suppliers may have longer warranty periods and these will gladly be honored. This policy is non-negotiable. If you have questions regarding this policy you need to call or email us before you make a purchase.
Any return for repair or replacement must be authorized by CARL’S ELECTRONICS and under no circumstances will returns be accepted unless so authorized. Return product via UPS or U.S. mail, prepaid and insured, for your protection. (Please note, we cannot refund shipping fees). Software, books, and plans are not refundable.
All returns accepted by us for refund are subject to a 25% restocking fee. Restocking fees cover a portion of our administrative and warehouse expenses associated with the return and restocking of a products (e.g., credit card fees, packaging, and administrative costs).
At our sole discretion, exchanges may be allowed. Exchanged products must be in as-new condition, unopened, and in factory packaging. If we accept the exchange, the customer will provide credit for the original purchase price less any shipping and handling fees. This credit can be applied to future store orders.

Carl’s Electronics only ships to the US and Canada. We may make exceptions, on a case-by-case basis, for large orders from well established foreign entities. Please email us with your request. All foreign orders over $100.00 (except Canada) must be paid in advance via a bank wire transfer. Foreign orders (including CANADA) are shipped visa USPS and UPS. You are wholly responsible for any custom duties, brokerage fees, import restrictions, etc. that are imposed after the sale. If you are not aware of UPS brokerage and duty fees, they can be quite high – Carl’s Electronics has no particpation in theses fees and we are unable to calculate what they might be. Any or foreign orders that are refused because of UPS brokerage fees will be refunded less 25% restocking, shipping charges, and UPS return charges – NO EXCEPTIONS. For wire funds transfer, please contact our office by fax/ E-mail for our banking information. No Letters of Credit will be accepted. Return shipping is the responsibility of the purchaser for all international returns. There are no exceptions to this policy.
Taxes and Exemptions
Currently, State and Local California taxes are added to orders shipping within the State of California. If tax exempt, please provide us with a valid California resale or tax exemption certificate.
We assume no liability associated with product usage. The buyer is liable and responsible for any loss, damage or expenses of any kind, arising out of the use or misuse of the products. By placing an order, the buyer signifies agreement to these Terms of Sale. If you do not agree to any of the preceding terms, please do not order.
We do not share any contact information to anyone for any reason. We may use your address to send newsletters and special offers, which has full opt-out options. It’s that simple, we respect your privacy. We don’t need a 16 page document of legal mumbo-jumbo to tell you we will not sell you out.
Our third-party shopping cart system uses the latest in Internet Security Techniques to provide the highest level of security. Please note that we log all IP addresses, any fraudulent orders will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law.
Legal Status of Products
It is the responsibility of the Buyer (not CARL’S ELECTRONICS) to ascertain and obey all applicable local, state and federal laws in regard to possession and use of any item in this catalog. Consult your attorney regarding local, state and federal laws before ordering. By placing an order, the buyer represents that he/she is of legal age and that the products will be used only in a lawful manner.
Carl’s Electronics does not currently offer a paper-based catalog. All our current products are listed on our online store.
Carl’s Electronics does not currently offer Gift Certificates.
